Well, we have arrived home from our annual trek to Washington DC. We got to spend time with Emily, Mills, Mills’ family, Randy’s sister and 3 nephews. I must admit that this trip was all about visiting, eating, drinking and walking. It was fabulous.
Emily has a new apartment and we thought it was darling. She lives in the Eastern Market area now and that is such a fun place.
Here are some random pics from the trip:
Civil War Memorial
Lincoln Memorial
Martin Luther King Memorial
World War II Memorial
As you can see, it rained on the day Randy took these pictures above.
Here are some wonderfully erratic pics of family and friends:
One of many fabulous meals we had!
Here we are doing what DC visitors do best – WALKING!
Mills was able to arrange (magic?) a private tour of the WEST WING. It was very, very interesting. We were not allowed to take pictures inside but did manage to get a few shots outside and in the press room. The press room was tiny and apparently built over a swimming pool. I think we could sale the art in the West Wing and get out of debt trouble in the United States! It was some of the most interesting and gorgeous art I have seen in a while. I am not counting Katie and Mike’s art in Kansas City.
Here are the pictures from the West Wing tour:
And the picture below is possibly my favorite. It is of the Executive Office Building from the West Wing vantage point.
And of course, it wouldn’t be a Washington DC trip without a picture of the White House:
It was such a wonderful trip to see Emily. Everyone had a divine time and I only got one blister! The food was outstanding and our companions were delightful. One last highlight of the trip was I got to drink a toast to my dad with Willett whiskey. Such a treat.
